Printing costs

Printing costs
Mr. Little paid me a visit this morning to explain an offer he and Mrs. Fowles have for Roots & Shoots. If R&S will work to reduce the printing costs at the school, they will donate 5% of the school's monthly cost savings to our fundraising campaigns.
Mr. Little explained that the printing costs for the school may be as much as 1 million RMB per year! Most of the expense comes from students printing documents for assignments. It’s not just about cost though; it’s also about the waste of paper. Mrs. Fowles and Mr. Little would like R&S to focus on saving trees while we fundraise to plant trees.
So, how much money might we be able to raise? Let’s say in February 2009, the school’s printing costs were 10,000RMB. If through R&S efforts, the costs in February 2010 are reduced to only 5000RMB, R&S will receive a donation of 250RMB from the school. That’s 5% of the 5000RMB saved. Adjustments will be made depending on school population, but this gives you an idea of what we could do.
Over the holiday, let’s give some thought to how we might like to take advantage of this great offer. How can we convince students not to print so many websites? How can we convince teachers to accept assignments electronically, instead of on paper? Let’s hear some more of your great ideas!
Have a wonderful holiday everyone.
